Gibson 1969-1974 Patent Number PAT NO sticker T-TOP Humbucker
The original vintage “T-Top” Gibson Humbucking pickups were introduced as an updated version of the venerable PAF and early Patent No. pickups. They are characterized by the “T” impressed on the top of each of the bobbins. It is widely believed that the ”T” was added as a reference, aiding the assemblers in keeping congruent directionality in an ever-growing mass production manufacturing scenario. Patent sticker T-Tops date between 1966 and 1974 and because these have base plates with slot head screws instead of Philips screws, we would date these more precisely between 1969 and 1974. They have a perfect output and these sound very nice and open.
