SOLD! - 2022 Gibson Heavy Aged 64 SG Standard Reissue Murphy Lab Maestro Vibrola
Usually when a Custom Shop aged guitar passes the shop we think: "Ok, not too bad. Pretty good job for a lab aged guitar..."
But this time it's different. This thing looks so real we had to look twice! The aging is just spot on, the faded cherry finish into brown, the headstock, neck, parts... It's all there and it really is a convincing '64 SG. The look, the feel, and the sound all add up. This is an amazing instrument!
So many well known guitarists played an SG: from Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, Angus Young and Pete Townshend to Frank Zappa, Derek Trucks and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. In '64 the SG reached it's pinnacle in what is considered a great SG: A bigger neck profile, good nut width, a Maestro Vibrola, the balance and playability all were close to perfect.
Now this reissue has all of the above: the Maestro Vibrola, chunky neck profile, accurate vintage specs and original construction methods, a real red aniline dye finish, chemically recreated plastics, replica electronics, and to finish it off the best Murphy Lab heavy aging I have seen in a long time. Paired with heavy aged hardware this simulates 60 years of heavy play wear, giving it the unique character, vibe, and feel of an original rocket from the Gibson Golden Era.
This guitar is in near mint collector grade condition and includes the Gibson OHSC case, hangtags, case candy, COA certificate etc, all as pictured.
