This luxurious ES-295 recreates the tone, looks and feel of the original model with a stunning level of fidelity and quality.
The completely hollow single-cut ES body of this model is made completely of maple and poplar and is paired with a mahogany neck. The bridge section is flanked by a pair of elegant "f" holes and features the vintage-styled wraparound Patent Applied For tailpiece anchored near the strap pin.
The Memphis Historic Series P90 pickups bring the 50's tone in its full glory, featuring the classic Gibson controls unit. The mahogany neck is reinforced with the historic truss rod and offers the accurate historic soft C-profile and has 19 frets with beautiful split parallelogram inlays, creme binding and a 1.7" wide nut are featured on the one-piece rosewood fingerboard. Vintage style Kluson tuners are installed on the classic Gibson headstock.
The famous story, perhaps apocryphal, surrounding the original model is that Les Paul, following the debut of the all-gold solid body electric that bears his name, was visiting a guitar-playing friend in the hospital and thought “I know! I’ll have Gibson make a special prototype ES-175 with twin white soap bar pickups, in all gold finish, with a flowered pickguard, and I’ll give it to my friend to cheer him up!” He told Gibson to rush it, and Gibson, as a result of Mr. Paul’s urging, made up what is now called the ES-295. Alas, they delivered the prototype to Mr. Paul just a few days too late, as his friend had passed away, but the world benefits ever since...
