SOLD! - 2015 Fender John Cruz Masterbuilt 63 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Aztec Gold
Here's another Goldtop for you: a super cool '63 Strat built by one of the best Senior Masterbuilders on the planet: John Cruz.
This stunner has got an ultra thin reliced Aztec Gold finish that makes the grain of the alder body visible and just looks and feels really vintage. The quarter sawn maple neck with RW fretboard feels so smooth and easy, it just fits like an old glove...
And the sound? It's like magic. To me Shishkov, Krause and Cruz are by far the best builders Fender ever had. You just hear the difference when you play such an instrument. Vintage bellsound, warm, rich... All the sounds of your guitar heroes are in there. It's only up to you to get them out ;-)
The guitar is completely original except for a recent refret and it comes complete with the original Fender case, hangtags, case candy, goodies, Fender Custom Shop Floor Traveler specs sheet and the COA Certificate of Authenticity.
Of all masterbuilders, John Cruz probably is one of the most legendary. He worked at Fender from 1987 to 2020, starting his career at Fender quality control. In 1993 he joined the Fender Custom Shop and in 2003 he became a senior masterbuilder.
During his reign he was best known for his aged/relic'd reproductions of classic Stratocasters and Telecasters and his most well known creations include reproductions of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s famous ‘Number One’ Stratocaster as well as the one called 'Lenny', the Jeff Beck Esquire Relic, the replica of Yngwie Malmsteen’s ‘Duck’ Stratocaster, the John Mayer Limited Edition Black 1 Stratocaster, the Gary Moore 1961 Fiesta Red Stratocaster and Phil Lynott’s Precision Bass.
He has spent a lifetime handcrafting musical instruments for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees such as Jeff Beck, Richie Sambora, Carlos Santana and Bono, to name but a few! Customers have famously waited for years after putting in their custom order until their name got to the top of the list in his overflowing order book.
