SOLD! - 1991 / 1992 Gibson Pre-Historic Les Paul Goldtop 1956 reissue R6 LPR6

You have found it: A rare and incredible 33 year old Pre-Historic '56 reissue Goldtop in very good condition!


These models were released just short of two years (1990-1992) before the official Historic range was produced by the Gibson Custom Shop and as such they are also know as the "Pre-Historic" models.

 This stunning guitar has a beautiful 1 piece Honduras mahogany back and neck with nice figuring, a dark naturally oily East Indian RW fretboard with thin binding, lovely round medium 50's neck profile with a 43mm nut, authentic 50's style top carve, original hardware, P100 pickups (that Gibson used in this era which are basically stacked P90's), ABR-1 wire bridge, electronics and CTS POT's dating R1379142 (week 42, 1991) and R1379150 (week 50, 1991). The wiring was adjusted from "modern" to "50's" and the crappy small disc capacitors were changed for 0.015u PIO's (originals in the case). It can all be returned to stock in a minute if so preferred. There are a few spots on the body and there is some light wear on the neck and headstock but in general it is in great condition. The Gold finish is warm and shows some amazing checking and craquelé, just like the originals!


It’s not a lightweight at 4.1Kg but it is not too heavy either and it sure has the sound when dialed in. Creamy sweet tones come out of the neck pickup and powerfull screaming leads soar from the bridge pickup. Blend them together and you reach tonal bliss.

 
 
The guitar comes with the original Gibson Les Paul Brown OHSC Hardshell Case with pink plush lining and shroud, made in Canada.
