Released as a limited edition in 1989 to commemorate 35 years since the introduction of the Les Paul Custom in 1954, this stunning guitar was based on the 1959 version of the magical Black Beauty.

There's an instant set of tones that comes to mind when considering a Les Paul Custom, and this 34 year old example truly delivers on the promise of one of Gibson's most lauded creations with an articulate, harmonic rich sound. This guitar can shift from searing, snappy treble in the bridge position to a powerful clear, warm and rich neck pickup. With 4.4Kg this is not a featherweight Les Paul but it sure sounds like it has the balls. It has so much sustain it rings like Christmas bells in an empty church!!

This 99% original 35th Anniversary Black Beauty features a solid mahogany body and carved mahogany top, a single piece mahogany neck with bound ebony fingerboard and mother of pearl block inlays, Kluson style tuners (replacements), 1959 format inked-on serial number, 3 x original PAT NO PAF humbucker pickups and a gold ABR-1 bridge, tailpiece and hardware. The iconic multi-bound headstock has the "35th Anniversary" inscription within the spit diamond inlay. Untouched solder with exception of replaced cheap disc capacitors (originals in the case) for original Bumblebees! POT's date to 1989. The pickup rings are cracked as usual for this period but hey: they are still original and a set of new good replicas will be an easy change if you want to.

It comes with its original Gibson "Canada" Les Paul case with fluffy plush lining and shroud, that has the bottom latch broken.
