SOLD! - 1981 Greco JAPAN '67 Reissue Flying V CUSTOM ORDER FV-600 Sparkling Red
These '67 reissue V's were built exclusively for the Japanese market at a time when they were giving the USA built Gibson versions a run for their money...
For anyone in the market for an affordable vintage instrument: The Japanese guitars from the late ’70s and ’80s are great choices that don’t command the massive price tags of their American counterparts.
Making this particular Flying V even more special is that it has specifications not found in the Greco catalogs as it was “CUSTOM ORDER MADE” by Greco! This is the first one we have ever seen in this paint job and pickup combo, truly a unique piece and a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Whereas most Greco Flying V's were either Natural, White, Black or Cherry, this one was a special order at the factory in 1981 with a stunning Sparkling Burgundy Red finish on the body, neck (set neck so not the cheaper bolt on version!) and matching headstock! It was also ordered with 2 high end DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers instead of the usual Maxon humbuckers (The Super Distortion was the first pickup specifically designed to kick a tube amp into overdrive and at the time it was the sole standard by which all other high output pickups were measured) and to top it off it was ordered with the the upscale rectangular form fitted Flying V case with gold/yellow interior and storage compartment.
This nearly 45 year old rocketship has a few dings & scratches to prove it's age and the hardware and plastics have aged nicely. It seems all original except for replaced tuners and everything shows the right amount of patina. This is a very original guitar that will blow you away!
