1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Tobacco Burst
This beautiful 100% original Tobacco Burst Gibson Les Paul Deluxe just turned 50 last year and it is in perfect condition with no modifications, no cracks, no breaks or touch-ups and it has all the original parts still there with untouched solder on the electronics.
And with a weight of 4.6Kg it could even be called a lightweight compared to most 70's Les Paul's.. ;-)
It has the original Gibson Deluxe stamped Kluson double line double ring tuners, Deluxe trussrod cover, 3-piece maple neck with small volute and a 3-piece pancake body, Gold reflector knobs (of which one tone knob has white lettering), Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and original tailpiece, original toggle switch, switch-tip, T/R ring, pots, capacitors, wiring etc all with untouched solder. It was professionally refretted and the frets are in great condition. The body has a date stamp in the bridge pickup cavity which reads OCT 18 1975 and that matches up with the "oval sticker" serial number that reads "Les Paul-Deluxe MADE IN USA 99123659. The guitar comes in the original and pretty worn Gibson Les Paul hardshell case with red plush interior, all latches work perfect.
The unopened Gibson PAT.NO. 2737842 Mini Humbuckers have the original cream rings, chrome covers and screws and they are ink stamped "WILLIAMSVILLE". In 1973 Norlin, owner of Gibson, took over Moog Music including the facility in Williamsville NY. Besides the legendary Moog equipment (Moog synthesizer, Minimoog, Taurus, Vocoder) they produced various Gibson components at the Williamsville facility like pickups, electronics, Lab Series amps etc. In 1976 Norlin moved the company to a facility on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga. Moog Music attempted to pivot to produce digital synthesizers, but finally declared bankruptcy in 1987. Having a set of WILLIAMSVILLE pickups in there is rare as they were only used for a brief period in time.
The guitar plays smooth and easy and the neck has a lovely '59 feel which we have seen a lot during the '74-'75 ERA. There's hardly any wear and she plays effortlessly up and down the neck. The Bridge pickup sounds gnarly and has a cool Telecaster kind of quack to it, perfect for lead solos and twangy bits. The neck pickup is warm and open sounding like a good PAF humbucker, powerfull and rich but open and not smothered like some humbuckers are.. The combination of the two gives you all the versatility you need, especially in a Les Paul!
