1973 Marshall model 1917 PA20 Head + cabinets + covers

Oasis, Liam and Noel Gallagher connection
Purchased by Bees In A Jar on Saturday October 3rd 2026 at Littleton Auctions in the UK: Icons and Artefacts - A Historic Auction to include Oasis Memorabilia.

Although the provenance is thin (the seller didn't want to be named in the documents and auction), even without the Oasis connection this set makes an excellent investment to any vintage amp and gear aficionado.

This is an exceptionally well preserved 1973 Marshall model 1917 20WATT JMP PA20 head and both matching Marshall speaker cabinets with the original Gold Marshall logo black dust covers for the head and both cabinets. The amp also comes with the original service bill from 2023 and the condition of the amp, cabinets and covers are a strong indicator of careful storage and minimal touring use!

The PA20 amp head with serial 1390E, dated on the chassis label to 10 January 1973, features the classic gold metal control panel and period correct fittings and is all original down to the wire. These 20WATT baby plexi amps (P.A.20 and model 2061 / 2061x reissue) are very much sought after and a serviced, complete and pristine like this set, even without the Oasis connection, is super rare and pretty darn valuable on its own. The EL84 power tubes, ECC83/12AX7 preamp tubes and solid state rectifier give it that typical Marshall crunch when pushed, and the clean sound is more warm and full bodied then for example the 18watt model 1974 or 1973. It is such a versatile setup that every guitarist should at least once check it out.

Each one of the cabinets retains two original EMI elliptical 10" speakers (dated week 39, 1972) which provide that unique vintage voicing associated with early Marshall PA systems, which by the way sounds great with a guitar in front, the inputs bridged and the volume and tone dimed! The checkerboard cloth and black Marshall tolex are 100% original and in amazing condition, as are the Marshall branded covers, making this a great set for collectors. Serials are A 00515 and A 00512 so we know this is a matched set, being together for over 54 years.

The set comes complete with cables, covers, PA20 head, both cabinets, service bill from 2023, documentation from Littleton Auctions and a certificate from Bees In A Jar. It's ready to be used for another 50 years!
