This is the benchmark Marshall Combo and one of the best amps you'll ever listen to... In vintage amplifier terms this is the ultimate combo amp for both recording and small club purposes... Classic Marshall Rock Tone in a reasonable small box!

It is an all original transition model (18W-20W) with the original RS Radio Spares Power transformer, RS Radio Spares EL84 Output transformer, POTs, electronics (few elco's serviced), block cabinet, backpanels with serial no, chassis, grillcloth, tolex, Marshall logo, footswitch, knobs etc etc. Speakers are the original 1968 PRE ROLA Celestion G12M T1221 20WATT Greenback's (12HA date stamp = 12 Aug 1968) with the original 20 102 003 Pulsonic Cones and the tubes are a vey cool set of old stock Brimar EL84 and ECC83's.

Now supposedly this is an original transition model 1973 Tremolo combo in almost original condition, including speakers, transformers etc. The power caps have been replaced over time and the Normal Channel has been modified from the standard passive mixer configuration to an active gain stage by adding an additional ECC83 in the already available spot on the chassis. No chassis mods were made so it can be reversed to original very easy and it was a very common mod to do back in the day (as it is today). It provides excellent channel separation and it makes the Normal channel roar!!

In 1965 Marshall introduced the 18W "practice" combo amps. The 18 watt amps were equipped with a pair of EL84 output tubes and 12AX7 preamp tubes. While it does not offer the same amount of clean headroom as the 50W and 100W amplifiers, this particular amplifier was very popular for those wanting the "cranked up tone" at a lower overall volume level. These 18WATTs certainly ROCK!!

There were originally 3 combo models: 1958, 1973 and 1974. They all had a tremolo. These amps used two EL84 tubes in the power amp, three ECC83's in the pre amp and an EZ81 or solid state rectifier. The 18W amps were discontinued late 1968, to be succeeded by the 20W Marshalls.
