A 1968 Marshall bottom cab? Find another one!! ;-)

This beautiful original early-mid 1968 Marshall 4x12 Pinstripe bottom cabinet holds the original 3 x PRE ROLA Celestion T1221 G12M from March '68 and 1 x replaced PRE ROLA Celestion T1221 G12M from July '69.

The cab is really super acoustic and LOUD and the speakers test perfect. All cones run free, sounds really acoustic and crisp with no rub, buzz or weird shit. This cab has been tested in our shop with a 1967 Blackflag 50W and it sounds absolutely roaring!! The condition of the restored cab is very, very good. The wood panels, wood strip at the botom, baffle, baffle screws, soundpost, metal handles etc are all original to this cabinet, as are the 3 x T1221 greenback speakers.

When we found this rare gem, it looked to be in a pretty bad shape. But underneath the bison tix glued vinyl and brush painted front and back we found an all original '68 bottom cab with 4 Greenbacks that are close to impossible to find these days! So we had it re-tolexed professionally, put some new EC Eric Collins vintage replica pinstripe grillcloth on there and finished it off with a true replica Gold Marshall logo. The back panel has a replacement jack cup, jack and screws/washers. Cool thing is that when replacing the pinstripe we noticed the front baffle has a never used (no holes) woodpiece in the corner for a "100" logo, maybe transitional 80 to 100W? Anyway, that's all how it looks. Everything that would make it sound amazing is original 1968!

And yes indeed: this bottom cab truly sounds amazing. Killer vintage tone, clear highs with strong lower mids, powerfull and the breakup is.... Rock in heaven... If you knock on the wood (...) of the cab you can hear it resonate. It is dry and loud, very accoustic!

The T1221 is Celestion’s most legendary speaker – the classic G12M speaker with the 75Hz cone. Known simply as “the greenback” ever since its reissue in the 80’s. The T1221 was the stock speaker in Marshall lead guitar 4×12 cabinets (1960 model cabs) from the mid 1960’s up until the late 1970’s and was also used by many other brands at the time. As such it is an absolute classic speaker and can be heard on countless albums. Famously used by Angus Young and an important ingredient in Van Halen’s “brown sound”. Half the rock albums and live shows you've heard would be on a cabinet this type.
