This probably is the worlds most famous guitar amplifier ever made. The Marshall Bluesbreaker.

The Bluesbreaker, which derives its nickname from being used by Eric Clapton with John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, is credited with delivering "the sound that launched British blues-rock in the mid-1960s." It was Marshall's first combo amplifier and was described as "arguably the most important in the company's history" and "the definitive rock amplifier."

According to the most widely accepted story, Eric Clapton wanted an amp that would fit in the boot of his car, so he asked Jim Marshall (whose store in London he frequented) to make him a combo amp powerful enough to use on stage. According to Robb Lawrence's The Early Years of the Les Paul Legacy, Jim Marshall initially gave Clapton a Model 1961 with 4×10inch speakers, which was soon replaced with a 2×12" Model 1962. Clapton used the combo amplifier with his 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard nicknamed "Beano" after the comicbook Clapton read on a picture on the John Mayall album.

Marshall's Model 1961/1962 combo amplifier entered the market at an affordable price: one third cheaper than a Vox AC30 and half the price of a Fender Bassman combo. It's reputation was cemented when Clapton, who had rejoined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, used one to record Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton - a set of sessions now widely regarded as "historic". After that, the combo became known as the "Bluesbreaker."

Due to its iconic status amongst collectors, the Bluesbreaker has become one of the most collectible and valuable vintage guitar amplifiers in the world.

***** Oh, and we almost forgot: this mammoth has THE SOUND!!!! *****

So what you are drooling all over is a painstakingly restored Series I Bluesbreaker 2x12 Combo, the transitional model 1962, with the very first of the JMP Tremolo chassis, dating to mid 1967

It has the original JMP Tremolo 50W Chassis - serial T/10027 - with original transformers (784-128, 1202-118) and mostly original components except for a few necessary replacements over the years. This amp has been serviced last week by our Amp tech and it really is in great nick, ready to be roaring on a stage near you!! The front and rear plexi panels are in good condition, with one hole in the back panel with a grommet for an extra speaker output (not used) and one other small hole where a capacitor was mounted. Original voltage and impedance selectors are present and fully functioning, so 110v or 120v can be selected for overseas buyers or 230V for EU powered customers. It has currently a new set of JJ valves (Power Amp, Pre Amp and Rectifier) but if desired (and advised) we can change them for a set of Old Stock Mullard tubes at an extra.

It also has a new 3 pin footswitch socket and shielded cable installed, a recent Marshall tremolo footswitch, new high quality Black Levant Tolex (except for the two back panels which still have their original Black with Blue/Green Tolex) and new "EC" Eric Collins grill cloth.

The speakers are a matching pair of 1967 Celestion T1221 G12M 20WATT 16Ohm 75hz pre-rola Greenbacks, date stamped 01BM and 03BM (Feb 1967).

It was serviced in 2019 by Berkshire Amplifier Repairs in the UK and then sold by JW's Guitars and Amps, Cheltenham, UK.
