1967 Gibson Firebird III Frost Blue

1967 Gibson Firebird III Frost Blue

€ 12.500,00Prijs

Sometimes a guitar is so rare you will pinch yourself, squint, make noises like "what" "huh" "WTF" or "holy shitballs" and look away, only to look again to see if you got it right.

This über rare Gibson Firebird III was made in the USA somewhere in between late 1967 (pots date 1376729 week 29, 1967) and early 1968 (serial number) and  was painted at the Gibson factory in this gorgeous Frost Blue (one of the rarest custom colors Gibson ever produced!!) which in about 60 years time changed into an amazing and darn cool faded green that can also be seen on some 60's Gibson Melody Makers and SG's, originally finished in pelham blue. Many try to replicate this look and mojo. This is the real thing.

There is an old headstock repair and the back of the neck that has been refinished in the US by one of the best in the business: Pat Murray from Coop Guitars. The repair itself is absolutely invisible under the finish which was very very professionally done and matches the discoloration and mojo of the rest of the guitar. Those who tried to restore an old finish know how incredibly hard it is to match old finish and wear. Especially when the original finish has faded and discolored over decades.

On top of that most parts are original like the 3 x P90 pickups, pots, electronics, switch, wiring, pickguard, knobs and an original 60's rectangular case. Tuners are repro of the original open back strip tuners that would have been on there.
