SOLD! - 1966 Gibson ES-330 TD Tobacco Burst
The Gibson ES-330 is a thinline hollow-body electric guitar model produced by the Gibson Guitar Corporation. It was first introduced in 1959. Though similar in appearance to the popular Gibson ES-335 guitar, the ES-330 is quite different: the 330 is a fully hollow thinline guitar, not a semi-hollow guitar with a center block. Also, the 330 has two single-coil P-90 pickups, in contrast with the two humbuckers on the 335. The 330 neck originally joined the body at the 16th fret, not the 19th, like the 335, but in 1967 to 1968 Gibson changed it to join at the 19th fret. This is a great example of the 16 fret length guitar.
This single owner 1966 ES-330 is all original with the characteristic full hollow thin-body and double cutaway, bound arched top and back, dark sunburst nitrocellulose finish, set Mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, small block inlays and a 41mm nut width. Two superb sounding and very versatile P90 dogear pickups, three-way toggle switch, two volume and two tone controls with gold top hat reflector knobs, chrome covers and hardware, ABR bridge with nylon saddles, trapeze tail piece, double line Kluson Deluxe tuners with white buttons.
The guitar is so clean it is just incredible. It has beautiful checking on the top and back of the body and neck and there is hardly any wear, only a few small spots and a mark near the bridge from a finger placement. Around the heel the black finish loses some of its color in spots. Lastly the P90 pickup covers have some dents in them but that's it. The headstock has worn around the edges but overall this guitar is in amazing shape. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. It has had a professional refret, new nut (original in the case) and fresh setup 2 years ago, invoice included.
This guitar plays like a dream and the sound is perfect. Acoustically it sounds loud and warm like a dreadnought so it would make the perfect guitar to play at home on the couch. Plugged, the neck P90 sounds full and rich and the bridge pickup has that trebly bite. All styles can be found with ease!
Comes including the original Gibson black pebble case with purple plush lining with key and Gibson warranty card, signed off on August 1966.
