SOLD! - 1965/1966 Gibson SG Junior Polaris White

€ 4.750,00Prijs

As you might know by now at Bees In A Jar we love our Juniors... And especially if they come in a cool rare color!

This 2.7Kg 1966 Gibson SG Junior in Polaris White plays easy and sounds great! It has no cracks or breaks but it has seen some work in the past. The glue underneath the fretboard near the body crumbled and needed repair, on the top near the pots/knobs a hole was filled and touched up and the headstock front was refinished. The finish on the body and neck are original, as are the Kluson strip tuners, trussrod cover, P90 pickup and cover, studs, wraparound lightning bolt bridge, reflectorhead knobs, strap buttons, pickguard etc. All of the electronics are original and work perfect, with the original CTS pots dating 1376546 (week 46 1965) and untouched solder joints. The serialnumber is in the low 580xxx range so very early 1966.

So yes, it has had some repairs but not the illusive headstock crack or broken heel that happens so often! And yes, it was played a lot because it sounds super! Acoustically it is loud and balanced with a clear "snap" that sounds amazing through the original dog-ear P90 pickup. It is balanced and wild.

The neck profile is the perfect compromise between Gibson's mid 60's shapes. The C-profile starts out as not too fat at the nut and well rounded shoulders and easy depth, graduating to a full neck by the time you reach the 12th fret. It's a super sweet and comfortable profile that plays with ease. The nice dark fretboard is perfect and the frets are worn but play easy and have enough life left.

The original Maestro Vibrola was removed a long time ago as most of us prefer to play it as stoptail.

A 70's Japanese type hardshell case is included in the sale. Doesnt fit perfect but does the trick.
