1964 Selmer Constellation Twin Twenty Croc Skin 20 WATT 2X12" Tremolo
Croc-Skin, Baby!!!! (no crocodiles were harmed when manufacturing this amplifier.....)
What we have here is a very rare 1964 Selmer Truvoice Constellation Twenty combo amplifier in great working condition with a sound that really is amazing!!
This amplifier was only built from 1963-65 and these are pretty hard to find. The ÜBER COOL Croc-Skin covering is original and in great shape: a real eyecatcher! As the name suggests it is a 20 watt all valve 'twin' channel amp that is all original apart from changed out speakers to a set of mid 60's super chimey bell sounding FANE 12inch speakers. The Output transfromer is original, the power transformer is replaced for a high end matching replacement.
It is really amazing sounding, not too loud so great for use at home, in the studio or in small venues. Or in big venues mic'ed up! The chimey bell sound is uncompressed and clean up to about 2 thirds (depending on the input power) and then there's that throaty Selmer growl from the 2 EL84’s in fixed bias. With a higher gain ECC83 in the V1 position it's a whole different beast. On top it will roar and drive with a good set of humbuckers straight in! Just like the legendary VOX AC30 but on 1/3 of the volume!! The amplifier works just perfect and sounds amazing!! The tremolo is very nice and has no side sounds.
Powered by 2 x EL84, soundwise it is in the same ballpark as the widely loved JMI VOX AC15 Twin and the famous Marshall 18WATT combo’s from the mid-late 60’s like the model 1973 (2x12) and 1974 (1x12), also known as the Mini Bluesbreaker!
