SOLD! - 1964-1965 Pre CBS Fender Stratocaster Sunburst L serial 3.4Kg w/ CITES
Very nice and clean Lightweight 3.4Kg L-serial Stratocaster that not only looks like a collector with it's beautiful vibrant sunburst color, it also sounds amazing with that typical Fender Strat sound from the early veneer period. Some really prefer the early veneer boards over the slab board period as the veneer boards tend to have a bit more twang and sparkle in the sound.
This beauty has an Alder body with original Sunburst finish in very good condition with no refin, touchups, repairs or routings whatsoever, just a few playmarks and some wear around the edges. The neck and headstock also still have the original nitro finish in amazing condition with no sanding no overspray only some soft wear on the sides of the neck. The finish on the neck, body and headstock glows perfectly under UV light. The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard (comes with CITES!) has 21 frets (original with some wear but still ok), pearloid dots and is in good shape with a little wear. The original transition peghead Fender Logo decal shows no signs of wear and the headstock has the original double line Kluson Deluxe tuners and single string tree with transitional plastic spacer. The body has the original jack, knobs, covers, green pickguard which misses the tip as it shrunk over time, bridge, saddles etc. The guitar has a new nut and the only parts replaced are the tremolo arm and tremolo springs. The rest is original! The neck stamp reads 2 NOV 64 B and dates to november 1964. The pickups are the original Fender grey bottom pickups which measure 5.8 (neck), 5.6 (middle) and 5.5K Ohm (bridge). According to the paperwork the neck pickup had a repair by Kloppmann in 2019 but as far as we can see it it still has the original lead wire, pickup bobbin wire etc so maybe it was just a simple pressure problem or a loose wire. All Stackpole pots (304-6516 week 16, 1965), 3-way switch, wire and capacitor are also original. The guitar comes in the original case with all latches working and in nice shape inside out, Fender logo is missing.
All in all this very nice lightweight Strat would make a great collectors piece as well as an amazing player. You will love it either way!
