SOLD! - 1963 2.6Kg Gibson SG Special Cherry Stoptail 2 x P90

€ 7.250,00Prijs

As the choice of Rock 'n Roll legends for decades the early 1960's SG Special represents simplicity, versatility, and monster rock tone...

Although not the most widely used Gibson guitar, Pete Townshend thought it was good enough to thrust Marshall stacks with at the Live at Leeds festival in 1970 and Carlos Santana played one during his mescaline trip at the infamous '69 Woodstock. And let's not forget that heavy metal may have sounded totally different had Tony Iommi never picked up his Gibson SG Special aka "Monkey".

So, in comes The Beast! This super cool ORIGINAL STOPTAIL SG Special has tons and tons of mojo and shows the marks of a hard earned life on the road. It has a repaired headstock break that doesnt look delicate but is rock solid. It has a multitude of scratches, nicks, dings, dongs, wear, bucklerash and an amazing faded to brown cherry top, back and neck. The sides still show the cherry red as it was in the 60's. The body around the jack output has cracked and was repaired, which is classic for these early 60's SG's. Also a little piece of the binding is missing on the treble side at the 22nd fret. This is not an axe for the faint hearted player... this one you take to battle. So strap it on, hold on to your balls and get blasted into the stratosphere!!

And the amazing part of it all: besides the tuners being replaced for later Kluson 3-on-a-plate strip tuners and a jumbo refret, this monster is all original! Two ferocious P90 pickups, original pots and caps, electronics, trussrod cover, pickguard, TPBR lightning wraparound tailpiece, studs, reflector knobs... It's all there.

The weight is only 2.6Kg so you wont break your back whilst banging in that all nighter. Comes in a super cool replica of a Pete Townshend The Who flightcase.

Cheaper then the Gibson Pete Townshend signature reissue............
