1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Standard PAF Cherry Sideways Vibrola
100% Original collector grade Gibson Les Paul Standard (SG) - no cracks, breaks or repairs to the headstock, neck or heel and incl. the original SG Les Paul Brown Case!
Launched in 1961, the characteristic SG (Solid Guitar) only became to be known as the SG in 1963 after the deal with Lester Polfus (Les Paul) ended that year. Before that, these guitars were called the Gibson Les Paul Standard (2 pickups) and Gibson Les Paul Custom (3 pickups).
This particular guitar weighs only 3.5Kg and is 100% original from top to bottom, including the vibrant cherry red finish, 2 unopened Patent Applied For PAF sticker humbucker pickups, wiring loom with untouched solder, 1961 pots and capacitor, jack output, pickguard, ABR-1 bridge, studs, knobs, tuners, Les Paul trussrod cover, backplates, plastics and the original brown case.
And on top of that it plays and sounds like a dream. The pickups are very powerful and the bridge pickup is crazy cool for lead solo's, rock riffs and cuts through the mix with powerful notes. The neck pickup is airy and open sounding with lots of warm and rich overtones. The lovely big / wide neck has a 43mm nut and feels and plays fast as lightning. No neck-dives at all like some early SG models are prone to do! The sideways tremolo also works fine and the guitar holds tune if not used as a dive bomb Jimi Hendrix kind of apparatus.
