SOLD! - 1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior SG jr Cherry Red Small Guard

€ 7.500,00Prijs

This 1961 FIRST YEAR super cool light weight 2.6Kg Gibson Les Paul (yes, in 1961 it was still called a Les Paul) Junior has some awesome tone!

The original P90 pickup is pretty hot and roars like an angry baby lion. It shows significant play wear but no breaks or repairs and everything is original. It has been pro-setup and it's a killer player. It weighs in at only 2.6Kg and it comes with the original alligator croc case in reasonable condition.

The P90 pickup, electronics, hardware, kluson strip tuners, stop tail piece etc etc are all original. No cracks, no breaks. Frets are in great shape.

In 1961, the Gibson Les Paul Junior model morphed into what we now know as the SG model, a sharp double-cutaway guitar which was a drastic departure from the original Les Paul design. The all mahogany SG Junior sported a single bridge position P90 pickup, wraparound tailpiece, and an unbound rosewood fretboard with dot inlays. Models from 1961 and the first half of 1962 actually say "Les Paul Model" on the headstock, even though Les Paul himself had already left the building.

It was introduced as a student model and it has been embraced by musicians for almost 60 years now. The rich cherry lacquer finish, early 60's neck joint and sharp vintage body scarfing are typical hallmarks of this model. It’s equipped with the powerful single dogear P90 pickup with handwired controls and capacitor. The Kluson strip tuners with white buttons, wraparound bridge and just 1 pickup with volume and tone knobs also contribute to simplicity, function and rock-solid tone!
