SOLD! - 1961 Fender Stratocaster 3-tone Sunburst
We have said it before and we will say it again: It's not about guitars, it's about dreams. And boy, this is one dream to come true...
We are proud to offer this incredible 100% original mid 1961 thick slab board Fender Stratocaster in 3-tone Sunburst with it's original brown case.
This baby feels and plays so sweet it almost does it by itself... It sounds strong, raw and snappy, just like John Frusciante's '62 slab board Strat, it's as funky as a dandy but is can also sound raw and powerful with soaring leads and bad ass power riffs. The 3 original pickups are strong and evenly balanced with that classic pre-CBS black bottom tone to die for, especially when combined with the early slab boards and an 100W amp on the brink of setting the shed on fire!
The strong feeling deep "D"-shaped neck has a thick slab of rosewood that has not been planed or sanded. The finish is all original with no refin or overspray. All parts, electronics and even the frets are original and in very good condition with a decent amount of meat left. Original solder and all correct hardware. The pickguard has the usual crack by the neck pickup due to shrinkage and the tip has broken off but has been retained and carefully glued back on to the aluminium foil shield under the pickguard so all is still there. All three original pickups are strong and evenly balanced with classic pre-CBS black bottom tone to die for, especially when combined with the thick slab board neck!
The body also has it's original finish without overspray or refin, no cracks or breaks, and a lot of mojo with lots of honest play wear which has an amazing vintage feel to it. And with a nice weight of a little over 3.4Kg you will be able to play it on stage for the entire night!
Neck date of 11/61, body date of 6/61, all 3 pots are dated 4th week of 61 and serial number is 60377.
The guitar comes with the 1961 Fender Brown Tolex rectangular hardshell case with burnt orange interior which is original to this guitar!
