SOLD! - 1960 *FLAME!* Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins in Western Orange
Really stunning flame maple top on this all original 1960 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins finished in Western Orange.
The Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins "single-cutaways" model is one of the most iconic Gretsch guitars ever made. Played by the likes of Duane Eddy, Eric Clapton, Brian Setzer, Eddie Cochran, John Lennon and Pete Townsend the 6120 has a tone and style all its own. 1960 was one of the last few years that the 6120 featured the single cutaway body with real f-holes and it is considered to be the "Holy Grail" of Gretsch guitars.
Here we have a stunning example from 1960 with a beautiful flamed maple top. This guitar is all original and in excellent condition for its age. The two Filtertron pickups have strong outputs, the weight is a very comfortable 3.3Kg. One of the best examples we have ever seen with a stunning highly flamed maple top, sides and back, no binding-issues and the original frets are still in good shape. There's an old wear spot near the jack output that is smooth and touched up long ago.
Comes in its original but very worn Gretsch "Cowboy-Case", white Western motiv tooled leather trim and US Airline hangtags!!
