SOLD! - 1960-1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom 3 x PAF Polaris White Sideways

€ 0,00Prijs

1961 was the first year for the "Les Paul Custom" with the new SG style bodyshape, renamed "SG Custom" in 1963.

And yes: you will look über cool flaunting this axe on stage! But not as cool as Sister Rosetta Tharpe... Or Les Paul & Mary Ford for that matter ;-)

This stunning beauty is an nearly all original very early 1961 example (Pots date to week 34, 1960!!) that weighs only 3.3Kg with 3 original Gibson PAF sticker Humbucker pickups with long AlNiCo II magnets (late 1960 - mid 1961) The neck and middle PAF have never been opened with untouched solder, the bridge pickup was professionally rewound by Andreas Kloppmann in Germany. (Bridge 7.75, Middle 7.72, Neck 7.70K Ohm) The guitar has no cracks, breaks or repairs and shows very cool wear all over the body and neck. The Polaris White finish is all original with some wear and checking all around. The original frets show wear but still have enough life left in them. It has a solid mahagony body, 1-piece mahagony neck with a comfortable typical 61-shape, bound ebony fretboard with Mother Of Pearl inlays and 22 frets, ABR-1 "non-retainer wire" bridge Tune-o-matic bridge, Gibson sideways Vibrola tailpiece and the gold hardware has worn and tarnished a lot. The 3-ply white "Angel Wing" pickguard with wide bevel angle, longer shape and only 3 screws to hold it is typical for 1960-1961, as is the vary rare "plain" bell shape trussrod cover. The pots are original and date 1346043 (week 34, 1960) as is the toggle switch, capacitors, electronics and wiring.

It includes the Ultra RARE 1960 Gibson SG Les Paul Brown Case with Pink Interior! This case was only offered in the later part of 1960, after Gibson transitioned from the traditional Les Paul to the "SG" Les Paul model. In 1961 Gibson no longer sold the famous Brown cases and moved towards the Black pebble cases with yellow plush lining which are the ones you will find 99% of the time.

1961 Gibson Guitars - Amplifiers catalog, p.10

"Players call it the "Fretless Wonder" for its extremely low frets and fast action. Now it's more wonderful than ever with new body design and new features. Ultra thin, hand contoured, delicately balanced, it adjusts into a natural comfortable playing position for any guitarist, with or without strap. With three humbucking adjustable pickups, Tune-O-Matic bridge, and the new Vibrato (operates in direction of pick stroke; swings out of way for rhythm playing) with increased power, greater sustain, and a clear resonant sparkling tone, the "Custom" provides the widest range of tonal colorings and effects. Three-way toggle switch provides a unique method of tone mixing; top position selects top pickup for rhythm; center position activates center and lower pickups simultaneously for extreme highs and special effects; lower position operates lower pickup for playing lead. Finished in gleaming white for smart contrast with gold-plated metal parts.

$395.00 + $47.50 for Faultless gold plush-lined case."
