1957 Fender Tweed Tremolux Model 5E9 Amp

1957 Fender Tweed Tremolux Model 5E9 Amp

€5.995,00Prijs

This early 1957 example of the narrow-panel tweed Tremolux is an absolute stunner - one of Fender's enduring classic period amps. The 5E9 Tremolux is one of rarest and now most sought-after bigger-box Tweeds. It was introduced in 1955 alongside its smaller cousin the Vibrolux, these two amps pioneering the company's first built-in tremolo effect. The 5E9 circuit is essentially a 5E3 Deluxe with the on-board effect added and a taller cabinet, rated at around 15 big and juicy Watts.

It is in pretty original condition and freshly serviced by our amp tech - The sound will blow you away!

Just a bit louder, bigger and fatter sounding than the standard Deluxe, the late '50s Tremolux is the perfect amp for those situations when the smaller tweeds just don't quite have the power to cut it. The larger box also gives a bit more breadth, letting the bass-response develop more, avoiding the boomy flub sometimes associated with the smaller Deluxe cabinets.

The tremolo is lush and deep and has an impressively wide range due to the trem circuit modulating the phase inverter bias, effectively making the effect consistent regardless of the volume setting.

This amp is a simply wonderful example with all the mojo you are looking for. The tweed cabinet is in great condition with some über cool wear to the outer edges of the corners, and the grille cloth is original and in great shape as well. The faceplate is clean with minor scratches and no corrosion. The lettering is faded but intact. The handle is a leather replacement.

This example has a tube chart code GD, dating the amp to April 1957. The Jensen P12PS speaker is a 1961 vintage replacement dated 220125, week 25 1961 with the original cone. The power transformer is the original Triad 8160 and the output transformer seems to be a period correct replacement. Most of the pots date to the 46th week of 1956 and one to the 45th week of 1955. The circuit is original and no alterations have been made other than standard maintenance to ensure reliable operation for many years to come.

This amp is incredibly well-preserved for its age and sounds truly phenomenal. It is currently one of our favourite tweeds in the shop. It will surely be an outstanding musical companion for decades to come!
