SOLD! - 1956 Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow 3.28Kg

This original 1956 Gibson Les Paul TV Special is incredible sounding axe with superb dynamics & powerful resonance. It sounds really open with so much clarity it really rings out acoustically as well as plugged into a hot amp. And with only 3,28Kg this guitar has the perfect weight so it's super comfortable to play for long periods of time and very easy to handle. 
 
This specimen has an incredible light, clean and glossy look to it with just the right bit of patina, wear and checking that makes this one a really neat guitar.
 
The two original P90s deliver clear and open tones that seem to sustain for days and have a lot of bite and aggressive power. The neck is a nice and comfortable handful, typical mid to late 50's so somewhat chunky but not too big and towards a '59 shape. 

The POT's and electronics are original with untouched solder, tuners are replaced, plastics, pickguard, wraparound tailpiece, studs, knobs, wiring, switch, trussrod cover etc. are all original!
 
The TV Yellow finish is nice and warm and checked just a little over the years. There are a couple of marks and dings on the headstock and body but nothing too big or serious other then a 70 year old guitar should have when played.

And then there's this. At some point in its lifespan the serial number was removed for reasons unknown, but the untouched electronics date it to 1956. If this hadn't been done to the serial the price of this would be significantly higher, with Les Paul Specials and Juniors seriously on the rise at the moment in both desirability and price. We felt the guitar deserved to be restored so we have had our luthier do his magic. He refinished the top part, re-stamped serial 6 1956 on it and painstakingly matched the TV Yellow, fading, ageing and grain. (Before pics are available). He did a really amazing job and although the history is visible, it has again a nice old serial and vintage vibe. Check the pics!
