SOLD! - 1955 Gibson Les Paul TV Junior Original Limed Mahogany Finish

What you are drooling on is an extremely rare 1955 Gibson Les Paul TV in original "Limed Mahogany" or "Natural" finish that has been owned and played in Italy for over 30 years.
 
Only 230 TV Junior's were produced in 1955 and according to most specialists no more than 30 of the early ones had this same kind of finish: Limed Mahogany. This finish has been defined as "the 'Mark 1' version of the TV Color", which is pleasantly darker and more transparent then the later beige TV Yellow or the solid banana yellow that came after that.

This guitar has no breaks, cracks or repairs, only a small smiley on the back of the headstock but it's solid and not through. It also had Grovers installed at one time but the original Klusons were put back in place. The original limed mahogany finish shows some nice weather checking and some reasonable playing wear over the body, neck and headstock. The fretboard is made out of an impressive fat slab of very dark BRW and was refretted and cleaned by famous Italian luthier Roberto Pistolesi. Apart from the original pickguard, tuners, trussrod cover, jack output, covers, short seam wrapover tailpiece, P90 pickup, pots, wiring and capacitor, it also has the original gold “Speed” knobs that were stock on this model until mid 1955. The tone pot has a small piece of copper tape running up to the backplate, that has a piece of alu foil on the back to prevent ground hum. Could be removed in 10 secs if preferred. The original P90 dogear pick up is very hot and has an amazing tone, it’s definitely one of the best P90’s that I have ever heard. Lots of power, definition, growl and clarity. It can sound anywhere from a raging wolverine to a sweet and jazzy warm acoustic. We have checked it thoroughly and under UV blacklight everything lights up perfectly.

Comes in a 60's brown Gibson Les Paul case with red plush interior. Handle, latches and hinges work perfectly.
