SOLD! - 1953-1959 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Burst Conversion 3.9Kg

If you hadn't noticed already: this conversion is one hell of an eye-catcher that takes you right up there with the best of the best!

It started life as a super nice 3.9Kg old wood 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with wraparound tailpiece and P90's and was converted to a '59 with amazing sounding 60's double black humbuckers, 60's Tune-O-Matic wire bridge and Stop Tailpiece. This is a big fat sounding beast of an axe with lots of airy harmonic overtones and a touch of hair and edge, acoustically as well as plugged in. This one has that 'real Burst tone' in spades.

The conversion and refin of this stunner to '59 specs was performed by luthier Sjak Zwier (Sjak Zwier Gitaarbouw) and several real 50's and 60's parts were included to get as close as possible to a real burst without breaking the bank.

After stripping, the guitar revealed this original stunning 3-piece maple piece top with a fire blazing flame on 2/3 of it, which was refinished (front, back, neck and back of the headstock) and aged in a sweet honey burst that shows some nice longitude checking all over the body, top and neck. It has a very nice round '53 neck that feels soft and sweet despite being quite a handful. The action is nice and low and the neck angle is just perfect. The headstock had a crack at some point but was stabilized and repaired very professionally, comes with our Shop guarantee! The faceplate is still original with the original script Les Paul Model slikscreened logo.

The neck pickup is a mid-late 60's T-Top Patent Number sticker Humbucker and the bridge pickup is a '64 Patent Number sticker PAF Humbucker. POT's are early 60's Centralabs with the original 1953 Grey Tiger capacitors. The bridge is an early 60's Tune-O-Matic wire with soft brass saddles, repro long steel studs and bushings for improved sustain. Stoptail is an Aluminum lightweight Gibson custom shop tail piece. High end repro aged pick guard, pickup rings and knobs. Mid 60's double line single ring Kluson Deluxe tuners, original 1953 backplates, trussrod cover, switch tip and ring.

This beauty comes in a standard recent Les Paul Case but on request we can add an original 50's Goldtop case at a premium. Pickups could also be swapped for original set of unopened 1959 Gibson ZEBRA PAF pickups but they wont come cheap.... :-)
