You will not want to put this one down for half a second!

This is truly a remarkable guitar that combines ultra-lightweight construction with a super powerful vintage sound. The featherweight wood has dried out and woken up so much over 90 years, it's just amazing... This Gibson L-00 weighs next to nothing but packs a powerful, expressive and loud voice that works great for fingerpicking, and honestly a fair bit of flatpick work too. Quick and energetic, it’s practically humming all the way. And so are you.

This 1936 Gibson L-00 acoustic guitar with FON code 730B 14 (where the factory code B was only used in 1936 - stated in an email from Gibson Customer Service) is not just an instrument, it’s a piece of history, ready to inspire and elevate your musical journey. It's the favourite acoustic guitar of Derek Trucks and for a good reason! It has the strength, volume and depth of a dreadnought but without that big guitar under your armpit.

The tonal quality of this Gibson is nothing short of exceptional, making it one of the finest small body vintage guitars we have had the pleasure to offer. This instrument delivers the ultimate vintage blues sound, a character that modern guitars simply cannot match!

Crafted with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this 1936 L-00 is as light as a feather, enhancing its playability. The L-00 produces a beautifully mature sound that is perfectly balanced, featuring pronounced mids, crystal clear highs, and resonant bass tones. It's astonishing what such a small body can achieve in terms of sonic depth and projection - the sound comes through directly and powerfully.

In terms of condition, this guitar remains in good original shape for its age. It does have a few repaired cracks, all of which are stable and have been expertly addressed. The playability is excellent, with a straight neck (having undergone a professional neck reset) and the guitar comes in a later non original Gibson case.

The L-0/L-00 family were Gibson’s most popular Depression ERA flat top in the 1930’s and are still favourites today. While these models stood at the bottom of the company’s guitar line in the 1930s, they are very well-designed instruments and still offer great value in sound. In the 1930's Gibson was an unmistakable pioneer in the development of small-body, handy size guitars. This example was built in 1936, when the list price was $27.50, without the case, and while it shows wear all around it still survived in overall nicely original condition.
